This time it wanted to install EAX which it appeared to do.
Cant understand why it did not install along with DX on the first attempt.
Now when attempting to launch the settings I get nothing at all. I click play, highlight settings and click launch and then nothing happens.
Most of our games require admin settings to be enabled to able to adjust their settings and save any changes made, if they are installed on your Windows or C drive. If you install the game on another letter drive, you may not need admin permissions to run the games and edit settings.
Can you please locate your installation folder for the game > select the settings cog in Steam > Local Files > Browse
Open that folder and double-click on SettingsApplication.exe to launch the settings outside of Steam.
If these settings do not open, please right-click the file > select Properties > Compatability > check the Run this program as an administrator> select Apply > OK > then try opening the file again
This should give you more resolution options to choose and you should be able to edit the games graphical settings, language settings and more.
Please let us know how you get on after following these steps?

I've been trying to get into the settings using your method and it keeps telling me the same error as usual. Not Installed Properly, yet everything verifies on steam and the game runs. Is there something else that may cause it to fail?
Hey Mr. Blobby,
Have you also tried installing the game on another drive? Ideally the same drive as Steam?
- Ubisoft Support
I just had it installed !
Hey whocares,
Apologies for the delay.
Have you tried launching the game itself before attempting to access the settings again?

The problem is a wrong path for registry entry. After steam installation, it is located here:
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil’
The correct path is:
‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Beyond Good & Evil’
Using regedit copy entries to the correct location and settings will work fine.
Fix also described here:

Thanks for sharing this oldNiCk, although we warn players when making any changes to the registry and welcome players reach out so we can look for an alternative route.

Unfortunately I have a similar issue with the game, when I start the game the resolution is very low (I can barely read whats written). I tried starting the Setting Application from the steam files as administrator and i got an error message telling me BGE is not installed. I then did the fix @oldNiCk mentioned and now when i try to start the Setting Application I dont get the message anymore but nothin happens, i can see that the Setting app is running in my task manager but it doesnt pop up on my screen in any form. Its a bit sad because i would have loved to replay this game once more :/
More infos : Im on windows 11, i got the game installed on my C drive along with steam.
Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out, I'm sorry to see you're having issues too!
As you're running on Windows 11, does launching in Compatibility Mode[ubi.li] help at all?
- Ubisoft Support
I do everything according to the instructions - it says that the game is not installed
Anyway, adding the proper registry key always works. This info can be found everywhere, including the very this thread.
But just out of curiosity: I just have a weird idea. Can you try to change the language through the Steam (Game properties - language in the Library), then change it back? This settings manipulate the registry, so _maybe_ it will work? And tell the result, please.
This is still a problem. why have the game on sale when it's broken, please advise
