Vegas 2 "Failed to initialize network service"
Hello there! Does anyone know if UbiSoft hast stopped running their servers for Vegas 2? It's been a week since my friends and I could play online for the last time, and it's happening to all of us...

Last time it was out for this long was last Sept. I think. They have set a new record for the servers being down for sure. Was on with their chat support line the other night and went round and round with them and got no where just like any other time the servers were down. They wouldn't even acknowledge there's a problem. If you and your friends really want to play the game then look into Tunngle. It's a free online LAN emulator. With the game running log into Tunngle and click "join LAN" or "host lan". It's a little tricky to set the account up. I had an issue with a verizon email address. Verizon will not let Tunngle's verification email through so a gmail account is a better option if you have VZ. https://www.tunngle.net/en/

Thanks for the advice! I've already downloaded and installed Tunngle, and I have also set up my account, but the interface of the program seemed just a little confusing at first. I also found a tutorial on YouTube, on how to play Vegas 2 on Tunngle, and Friday morning a friend and I will give the whole thing a try; I hope it'll be simple enough to get it right and spread the info to the rest of our usual game buddies. We all hope to be back to the front soon!

Ubisoft is ♥♥♥♥. Now they even ruin the last good game they have made.
Shame.

Yeah... I guess they don't give a damn about people who bought their old games... but then I see a LOT of people out there complaining because they can't play R6 Siege or other newer games, so...

Np Jojoy! You have to put just the word "vegas" in when you search for the game, won't come up any other way. Double click R6V2 and it will say "network switch successful", minimize Tunngle console and your good to go.

People opening suppport chat cases with Ubi is the only way these servers are going to come back online. I feel they have been testing the waters this past year...if there's not enough out cry they will shut them down hoping that people will buy their disappointing"Siege".
FreeSpirit Apr 18, 2017 @ 8:03am
the worst thing is ppl will lose faith with the Rainbow series, what happens in "Vegas", will happen in "Siege" as well.....

Thanks for the tip, Pennywise3361! I'll be dedicating some time to try Tunngle with Vegas 2 this Friday morning, and I I'm hoping to be playing again soon! By the way, can you create private games, or only in public servers?

WELCOME! no private games but you can password protect the games you want to host for friends, same as if you were platying on the ubi online server

Below was my support chat with ubisoft this afternoon:
Look, I appreciate the attempt to resolve the issue using your standard protocol but this pc I'm on is reserved for one purpose and one purpose only, gaming with myself being the sole operator. Iv'e changed NO settings so as soon as your servers come back up so will a successful log in be possible.
Port settings don't change by themselves suddenly, if the ports were forwarded previously they are now too.
Okay after checking something we are actually having maintenance on the servers.
I would recommend trying this later today.
How long has the mtce been going on?
Has a system wide outage been acknowledged for R6V2 online multiplayer?
you still there?
Yes I was checking on this time frame
Currently we do not have an ETA on this.
Bottom line is the r6v2 community is all experiencing the same issue were not looking for blame here just finally an acknowledgement of an outage.
Gotcha yeah there currently is one but our teams are working on a fix. My apologies for any inconvenience.
Ok thank you I will initiate a new ticket after 24 hours
Sounds good. I hope you have a nice day.
you too, thanks
You've ended the chat.

Thanks again for your supportive attitude, Pennywise3361! At least they aknowledge a problem, and they say they're "working on a fix"... Anyway, if Tunngle lets us password-protect our games, there shouldn't be much of a difference, right? And if we don't have to rely on UbiSoft's authentication servers, I guess we'll be much happier. I don't have that much time to play, and it's a bummer to spend it just trying to log in.

Hey, Tunngle WORKS GREAT!! And just as soon as I gave it a few tries, UbiSpft authentication servers started working AGAIN, after about to weeks. Thanks again fro the advice, Pennywise3361! It's good to have a plan B, in case UbiSucks does it again!

Just discovered they were back on too! Glad you got Tunngle as a back up. Look for me when your online. Wish other ppl would get Tunngle.
Jojoy Apr 20, 2017 @ 3:38pm
Well, my brother, my wife, and at least three more friends have already received a little step-by-step tutorial I made for them today, explaining how to download, install and use Tunngle to play R6 Vegas 2. And any other friends who might join our little group will certainly count on it as a backup plan It seems to be a great platform, Pennywise3361! In fact, if I keep on testing it and it works as well as today, I guess I'll go for a lifetime license to support the developers.
