Tried the demo
Jumping in, I liked the ability to make a character and I like the ability to mix spells together (Kinda like transistor) which adds an interesting layer to the game.

The game feels decent to play overall though it seems falling is an instadeath which seems a little punishing for the game as I imagine it will have platform heavy sections due to having a jump.

A major gripe I have is with enemy variety. The game could definitely do with more in this area as fighting the same enemies, dying and fighting the same enemies could be inredibly tedious considering the main couple of enemies in the demo only have a couple of attacks making combat engagements not very interesting.

I also encountered a bug with the boss after dying to it where it just sat and let me wail on it until it died. It got stuck in the upper left where I retrieved my goo and it just did not move from that spot nor did it try to attack.

Overall I think there's a decent foundation here and it could be interesting but the lack of enemy variety could be detrimental to the game overall. A lack of healing is also an interesting choice as it means you can be whittled down rather than pressing forward. I think perhaps with a healing mechanic (Maybe there's a spell) you could flesh out the enemies more so that they aren't as basic.

I agree enemy variation is something they can work on. Though this is just a demo and I expect there to be more enemies in the full game.

Lack of healing though I have to say that is only in the beginning. Sure there are (as far as I've noticed.) no health potions. I have found, relatively quick, a lifesteal element for your skills and a healing for consecutive basic attacks. Healing on tornado ticks pretty decent but the crown hat for light attacks heals really rapidly.
Would this game be fun to co op with a 9 year old? Looking for easy co op games to play with kids

I think it would be a decent enough time though from what I played in the demo, there are better co-op games out there though. Obviously it also depends on what you and the kid like and such

We also have added player specific accessibilty settings and difficulty scalers to make playing with people less familiar with action games more enjoyable.

this is an insulting response. Someone can be good at platforming and still make mistakes, which are easy with fixed camera and flat shading / no shadows. Saying 'use crutches so you don't fall' just makes the game less fun and interesting.
It's not like this is a souls game where you only fall to your death from making dumb mistakes.
Also with so many copy paste enemies that take so many hits to kill yet offer very little challenge, but will follow you over the entire map, the run back becomes incredibly tedious.

Just walked into the first boss fight with no visual indication whatsoever that it would be a boss fight. Somehow i went from a cosy looking glade with a totem to a big arena with an angry boss. Now my gems or whatever are stuck in the boss fight so i cant use them to level up to make the boss fight easier.
This game lacks the nuanced design decisions that make games like dark souls challenging but fun and rewarding. So far it's just frustrating.
