Swallow the Sea 2? + other FAQ
1. I finished Swallow the Sea and want more, was this a demo/will there be a sequel?

We are absolutely overjoyed that you enjoyed Swallow the Sea and want more. Swallow the Sea was always intended to be a short showcase of what we could accomplish as developers.

There currently is no planned sequel or "Full Version" of Swallow the Sea. This isn't to say that we will never return to the world of Swallow the Sea it just isn't a current project of ours.

Currently we are developing Brutal Orchestra which is by far the largest project we have ever worked on and is tangentially connected to Swallow the Sea.

If you enjoyed Swallow the Sea you will likely enjoy Brutal Orchestra. In-fact you might even spot a few familiar faces.

If you are looking for more from us right here and now we have another games available on Steam for free titled Perfect Vermin.

If you want to dive even deeper we have quite a few game-jams and student projects on Itch.io that will never come to Steam.

2. Why can't I add Swallow the Sea achievements to my profile/achievement showcase?

Steam categorizes Free and Free to play games separately. The difference being Free to play games contain some form of transaction, micro or otherwise, whereas free games are completely free. Steam often flags fully free games such Swallow the Sea as Profile Features Limited. This prevents Swallow the Sea's achievements from being added to your user profile or counting towards your global achievement stats.

Profile Features Limited was added a few years ago to try and combat the wave of free “Spam” games flooding Steam and messing with Steam’s Global achievement analytics.

Only free games that have exceedingly large player bases or made by already large developers seem to not get flagged. If there was something we could do to get around this short of putting a price tag on the game we would do it, but as it stands this unfortunately looks permanent.

I just wanted to thank the devs for offering native Linux support for your games! I'm sure there will be many Linux-preferring players (including those with mixed environments for whom automated metrics don't account for very well, yet make their purchasing decisions upon and prefer Linux) introduced to your titles through Swallow the Sea and Perfect Vermin!

I always go out of my way to let indie developers know Linux support is noted and appreciated. Both your free titles and Brutal Orchestra have been showcased on GamingOnLinux, the /r/linux_gaming subreddit, and other sites as well thanks to this inclusion! Looking forward to Brutal Orchestra and have already Wishlisted!

I have zero interest in your other games. Another/full Swallow the sea seems far more interesting and worth my time and money.

Sad to see developers which don't pursue true art.

Isn't adding the game's soundtracks as paid DLC make the games compliant with the rule?
all of this just seems disrespectfull to you wonderfull devs who make legit games with legit achievemnts, not to mention the games that absolutely should have their profile features limited and don't, it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ travesty and a slap in the face

Jesus dude, I don't use this word lightly or often but this is the epitome of entitlement.

Maybe they'll make it in the future but their human beings with their own goals. They want to make the projects they want to make. It's true they need to listen to the consumer too but clearly this game isn't on the table right now. You could be a bit nicer about it.

Its not entitlement to want people to try harder lmao. Go be anti-customer elsewhere.

Hey Ceriss,

Thanks for sticking up for us and I hope you enjoyed the game!

As someone who responds to negative/vitriolic reviews as part of their job, I’d recommend just not engaging, they are very unlikely to change their mind and their unpleasantness really doesn’t do anything but embarrass themselves to any users passing by.

Thanks again!
