"Mech Builder" possible theft?

A friend stated that Mech Builder may have lifted ideas from this game. I don't believe it is the same person who made both, so you may want to look into it. Hope this helps; if I'm wrong I apologize, I am working off what someone else said.

It looks different enough to me, If you wanted to make your own "mech buidling" game only so many differences you can do.. But looking at the features it seems to expand on the idea a lot.

And whilst I was writing this I looked in the forum for that game and the dev said that yes, one of the games he took inspiration from was Last Call BBS.

I mean, like the above said, there's only so much you can do with this. And being inspired by a minigame in this game to build a whole game out of it? I wouldn't really consider that theft. It'd only be theft if it was literally the same game with assets. Nah, I think it's welcome and you just gave them publicity because now it's wishlisted and I'm about to try the demo, haha. I wanted more content and couldn't find anything after finishing all the mechs in this game, I even built them multiple times. Just so relaxing and satisfying. I need MORE

Also to add, it looks like the painting system in Mech Builder is a lot more simplified than in this game, which makes me a little sad lol. I really enjoyed using the tape and lining things up just right and then seeing the final product. So fun.

It looks a little "too" inspired for the maker to not know about the Last Call mini-game.

Now, it's totally fine to be inspired and make a full game out of it, but at least giving some credit (and or a few small references, such as a Mecha with model name LC-BBS) would have been graceful.

Legally, game mechanisms are not protected intellectual property. The artwork and trademarks can be.

if mecha builder "stole" from Last Call BBS, then Last Call BBS stole from Gundam, and especially from Gundam Breaker.

that game does look completely derivative of this one, i'll give that. but it's not "stealing" in any meaning of the word. Back in the day we used to just say that one game was a "clone" of another if they obviously copied a bunch of ideas without directly plagiarizing from another game.
