Leap of Faith bug
Something's wrong with my game here. Everytime I do a leap of faith on the first tower you see when you get out of Masyaf for the first time (right after the mission where you find the traitor inside Masyaf and Al Mualim gives you your first sword and hidden blade) I always die at the haystack as if the haystack wasn't even there. Its the tower that's surrounded by your fellow assassins and everytime I climb and sync, the game prompts me to jump to the haystack below. However, for some reason there is some kind of invisible wall that prevents me from landing on the haystack because he dies right on top of the haystack (even though there is clearly nothing on top of the haystack) and I get a desynchronization scene.

Thank you to Actual LD50 for posting your workaround to this issue, of certain actions like the Leap of Faith not synching correctly in time with the game, causing the Altaïr's death.

This can happen with some of our older games that were not designed for higher resolution monitors and GPUs, meaning the game is out of sync with what is happening on your monitor and what button/key inputs you have pressed, this can also affect certain situations in some of our older Prince of Persia games.

Enabling Vsync and capping the game to either 60 fps or 30fps in the Nvidia Control Panel can resolve this for Nvidia GPU cards -
Nvidia control panel -> Manage 3D settings -> Global Settings -> Vsync -> Force On

For AMD GPU users you can try the following options -
Catalyst control centre -> Gaming -> 3D Application Settings -> Wait for vertical refresh -> Put the slider "Quality" on "Always On".

I have marked your answer as the thread answer so other players can find your solution to this more easily. thank you.

Try verifying the game files, maybe reinstalling if that doesn't work.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and the problem still persists.
I've also tried running it on admin and windows xp compatibility mode and its still there.

I had the same problem, and I think I've fixed it. If you have an nvidia card, try forcing vsync on for the game in the nvidia control panel. (I found multiple entries for this game, I turned vsync on for all of them.)

Oh my god! Thank you! That actually worked. You know I've spent about two weeks emailing Ubisoft back and forth with them trying to figure out how to fix this damn problem. First they told me to update my video card which was the first thing I checked when I ran into the problem. Then they told me they were going to send the problem to the higher ups to see if they can find the problem and release a patch. That was the last time I heard from them and that was about two months ago. Since then I've stopped playing thinking to myself I've just wasted my money on a game that doesn't work....

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless bastards.

I'm glad it worked for you. It took some serious hunting to figure out what the problem was.

Ubisoft's customer support does leave something to be desired, and a bad taste in the mouth.

Just ran into this problem. V-sync solved an issue with Prince of Persia 2008 and I heard they're using the same engine, I'll try it in a sec.
It worked, I turned it on in the settings menu and I could do a leap of faith into a haystack that didn't work before. Thank you!

Thanks magikarp, I am revisiting AC and your comment solved the issue right away. I know this is old but I wanted to say thanks.

Oh yeah I did that leap of DEATH three freaking times. I gave up and google it up and here I am. Thanks, I just tried it and spot on! Turning VSYNC on solved the problems. Awesome!
