There is a new x360ce solution in case that was the issue, as explained on PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
Failing that, this guy had a similar issue and a simple restart of computer resolved the issue for them (see post here for reference).

With any of these solutions in place, the control customization screen shows the correct mappings and symbology ("High Profile" is assigned to "RT"), but in game, the controller doesn't work *at all*, not even in the limited capacity of "partial controller support".
Say what you want about how great computer gaming is over console gaming, but at least everything on consoles just works.
