That is... Absolutely ridiculous, and nonsensical. You're saying he "psychologically handicaps" himself from doing something as simple as grabbing a ledge? A basic human reaction to falling? I don't think even the earliest assassin's in the series are stupid enough to wing-clip themselves when they need to survive/accomplish their goal.
