I FOUND A FIX FOR LAUNCHING THE GAME ON WINDOWS 10

Hi there, I have been searching for a fix for this game for a good 2 weeks now and I finally found a fix that also allows the game to be played with all cores and with an internet connection.

I have tried pretty much everything that exists on the internet, but this is what worked for me:

Download and install Eagle Patch here:

Make sure to revert any other changes you made such as:
Disabling your internet connection,
Modifying your windows hosts file,
Disabling cores on your CPU,
Enabling compatibility mode
etc...

You do not need any other fixes and should make sure to do this from a fresh install.
Make sure it is totally fresh and all compatibility modes are disabled.

Next, launch the game from the Dx9 exe.

You can add the Dx9 exe as a non steam game to your library if you wish to launch it from steam.

If this doesn't work for you, additionally download and install the aspect ratio patch from here:

YOU MAY WANT TO DO THAT ANYWAY SO CHECK THE PATCH OUT.

If that still didn't work for you. Make sure you have AC downloaded on a drive that is formatted with an MBR partition style. This will only be the case on old hard drives probably.

If that STILL didn't work for you, here is everything I read worked for other people. Try each of the following first without then with the previous steps (trying all 3 exes for each fix) and then combinations of each fix:

Open the DirectX folder in the game directory and run DXSETUP.exe, then open the Detection folder and run Detection.exe

Set all 3 exes to windows vista compatibility mode, disable fullscreen optimizations, and have them run as administrator

Add the following to the end of your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file
216.98.48.18 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.53 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.57 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.133 127.0.0.1
216.98.48.134 127.0.0.1

Disable your internet adapter and run in offline mode

Open msconfig and edit the boot advanced properties to limit your cpu to <=4 cores
doing this through task manager doesn't work

Or you could just go and find the ''hosts'' file and edit in a small bit of text... sorta helps out with fixing the game in general as well.

Tried it, didn't work for me. I have read it works for other people though.

All you need to do is download and install the patch, all of the other suggestions are for if that doesn't work. It is the simplest fix I have found.
