Assassin creed 1 freezing
Hey so I’m playing from my new Asus rog ally. And only on assassin creed 1 the original one with Altair the GAME freeze every few minutes for a few seconds and the sound continues play but the game is stuck which annoying. Idk what to do anymore I updated my windows and everything. And still it freezing. And it’s funny because assassin creed 2 works normal. Any idea what I should do?

There's a community guide somewhere better explaining in detail how to do this, but the general steps are:

1. go to your file explorer
2. go to Local Disk (C:)\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
3. Find the file titled "Hosts" and copy it to your desktop
4. Open the file "Hosts" with Notepad
5. at the bottom of "Hosts" drop this (without quotes) in there: " #Assassin's Creed non-functional server
203.132.26.155 127.0.0.1 "
6. Save it and then bring it back to Local Disk (C:)\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
7. replace the old "hosts" file with your edited version.

Then your problem should be solved. That's what fixed it for me.

Another quick fix is to just disconnect from the internet while you play, apparently, but I haven't tried that one.

it should work because the issue seems to be that the game is trying to connect to the internet to upload stats to Ubisoft, but the game isn't really being supported anymore, so every attempt to connect to Ubisoft's server fails. This causes the freeze. A moment later it tries again, and freezes again, rinse and repeat. Adding that address to the host file disrupts the cycle and thus stops the freezing. Worked perfectly for me. Now my only problem with the game is the clunky controls. lol

Edit: I suppose you don't need the "#Assassin's Creed non-functional server" part. All you really need is "203.132.26.155 127.0.0.1"

Hi there, I've tried both going offline and using the hosts notepad fix here and I'm still getting the short bursts of freezing. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them <3
