Assassin's Creed Controller Fix

This should work for any controller (PS, Xbox, Generic etc...)

Head over to http://www.x360ce.com/ and download the latest version for 32-bit games, extract it and place the "x360ce" file in your Assassin's Creed/Assassin's Creed II install directory

\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed

Launch "x360ce" as an Admin (right click), it will prompt you to create the "xinput1_3.dll" file, create it, once the UI has loaded, plug your controller in, it should automatically detect your controller and apply the correct settings, click next, click finish, check the buttons are mapped correctly, click save, close the program.

You should now be able to launch AC1 or AC2, enable the controller in the options menu and enjoy.

This should work for any version of Windows any with any Dinput or Xinput controller.

Download the driver from this website and then go into the controller settings in the game and bind the buttons. Works first try. None of these other people figured this out. The 'Automatic' XBOX One Windows 10 or Windows Update files do not work (with AC 1 anyway). You have to download the USB files located on this website. Major Nelson deleted the links to download these files, but some websites out there still have the files for you to download.

The files the OP apparently made for this discussion thread do not work for XBOX One controllers. I fussed troubleshooting this issue for several hours and when I tried using the original Major Nelson XBOX One files (he deleted from his Microsoft Blog post), it fixed the issue. Nothing else seems to work. Downloading the 'XBOX Accessories' App from the Windows Store and all the other suggestions did not work.

Will it work, even if I don't have the games on steam? Because, for some reason, it won't. I have an official wired xBox one controller. I have tried with both the windows 10, and the pre windows 10 files. I use windows 10.

Wireless controllers are iffy; this fix works best with official wired Xbox One or 360 controllers.

Doesn't work for me at all. Tried this after my wireless 360 controller didn't work initially, and again after trying this. Any ideas? It's not reading the controller at all. Unplugged the wireless receiver and plugged it back in while it was waiting for input, still nothing.

Works fine on just my PC, but controls go back to default when I run it on the link. Seems like having the wireless receiver plugged into the Steam link doesn't pull the data.

Any ideas?

It's because it works off of your controler, and not steam link; if you're using steam link and not your computer, the dll won't detect the controller.

Okay, so I have downloaded the two things into my folder for AC, I am using a wireless xbox 360 controller and I cannot get the triggers to work, so I am pretty much stuck at the tutorial because I can't use high profile actions.
