Assassin's Creed Controller Fix
This should work for any controller (PS, Xbox, Generic etc...)

Head over to http://www.x360ce.com/ and download the latest version for 32-bit games, extract it and place the "x360ce" file in your Assassin's Creed/Assassin's Creed II install directory

\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed

Launch "x360ce" as an Admin (right click), it will prompt you to create the "xinput1_3.dll" file, create it, once the UI has loaded, plug your controller in, it should automatically detect your controller and apply the correct settings, click next, click finish, check the buttons are mapped correctly, click save, close the program.

You should now be able to launch AC1 or AC2, enable the controller in the options menu and enjoy.

This should work for any version of Windows any with any Dinput or Xinput controller.

The controller seems to work fine for me after some configuration changes.

Are you using the official wired Xbox 360 gamepad?
Wireless with adapter.

Some people don't need these files, but most people who have a wireless controller, 3rd party controller or Xbox One controller will need these files so all the buttons do what they are meant to do, I can play without the files but I cannot use RT, LT. I have to run with RB and this gets very uncomfortable.
Oh, I only started playing, I didn't think the triggers did anything. I'll have to download that actually hah.

OK, you shouldn't need to do this in AC Brotherhood and onwards
Thank You Very Much!

Welcome
Thanks for the files. They worked great, I prefer the rightstick invert look, I had no problem changing the right analog value to a positive, and works flawless.
so I've done all of the above and my controllers triggers still aren't working, someone help me please

What controller are you using? Official, Wired, Wireless etc...
wired 360 controller
never had it not work for a game before I have the drivers for it and it's always worked
I never needed to install any drivers to get the official wired xbox 360 controller to work on Windows. I think the 'drivers' you installed might be causing the problem. Windows Vista (or higher) have the drivers for the X360 controllers built-in
its not an official x360 controller it's a power A controller but xbox 360 format and same usb plugin
