Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed

Game stuck at blank white screen
Hello, recently I bought Assassin's Creed game (the first one) on Steam. I've already installed it and played it once. Then, when I want to play it again, the game only shows a blank white screen, and it froze there. I've verified the game files, but no luck. Please kindly give some suggestions on how to fix it. Thank you

Try this from PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
Opening video plays with no visuals on Windows 7 and later[www.pcgamingwiki.com]
  • Set compatibility mode
  1. Open
    AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe
    compatibility settings.
  2. Enable compatibility mode for
    Windows Vista (SP2)
    .

Failing that, try this:
Game audio plays, but no visuals[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
    • Swap out files
    1. Go to the installation folder.
    2. Swap the names of the files
      AssassinsCreed_Game
      and
      AssassinsCreed_Dx[version]
      .
    3. Run the game.

    • The game will try to connect to the Ubisoft servers, which cannot be reached anymore.
Block Assassin's Creed in your firewall.

    • See this post for instructions on how to do this in Windows Defender Firewall.

    • The game may try to connect to Ubisoft servers, which could be down, resulting in choppy audio in-game and freezing.
    • Edit your hosts file
    1. Go to
      %WINDIR%[www.pcgamingwiki.com]\System32\drivers\etc
      .
    2. Open the file
      hosts
with NotePad, and add the following IP addresses at the end:

  3. If that doesn't work...

See this other excerpt from PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
    • Disable your internet connection
    • You have to do this every time before playing the game.

Here are a list of potential performance-related fixes that you might find useful should you get the game running.

Possibly useful as a last resort if the game still doesn't launch, although they might not be relevant:
  1. See this post about switching the DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 versions of game around.

  2. See this excerpt from PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
Enable Low Latency Mode via Nvidia Control Panel or similar

    For Nvidia GPUs:
    1. Right-click the desktop and click Nvidia Control Panel.

    2. Open the Manage 3D settings screen (refer to this help article[www.nvidia.com]).

    3. In the Manage 3D settings screen, under the Global Settings tab, set the Low Latency Mode option to On or Ultra (may need to try both for best effect).

Alternatively, click the Program Settings tab, click the Add button, add Assassin's Creed, and likewise set the Low Latency Mode option to On or Ultra, if you just want to tweak for Assassin's Creed.

See this help article[www.nvidia.com] on the features list in the Manage 3D settings screen.

    4. Click the Apply button.

    5. Launch Assassin's Creed and check if problem is resolved.

    For AMD GPUs:
    1. Right-click the desktop and click AMD Radeon Software.

    2. Refer to this help article[www.amd.com] on how to set low latency (see the Configuring GPU Performance > Memory Timing section).

    3. Launch Assassin's Creed and check if problem is resolved.

Bad news is, I've already seen this answer on different thread, and yes, I've already tried each one of them and nothing work. The weird thing is, I could run the .exe files just fine (_dx9, _dx10, or _game exe file), but there are no steam overlay when I run it that way (i can't take a screenshot using steam too). I want to play it using steam so I can share my screenshots of the game easier.
Hello to everyone!
At first i thought that i have found the fix!
I was unable to open the exe file second time. I had to fully turn off my pc and then after turning it on, the game runs foine!
But in the next install, this method didn't help me.
I tried to use everything in nvidia control panel and I have found, that to run the game i need to turn on FXAA option.
Strangely, but this fixed my problem.
Good luck!
