Assassin's Creed

Assassin's Creed

Why do these guards have no chill?
So maybe I missed something in the story, but why are all the guards suddenly hostile to me?

I just left the first town, just started the game. I was riding a horse, and the game said "hold down this button to avoid attracting attention from guards" so I think, "Ok, like when they suspect me of committing a crime I can play it cool."

So I ride into town, and one second Im riding towards Damascas, minding my own business, and the next second Im on my hands and knees taking it doggy style from like 12 guards.

What the hell did i do to deserve on-the-spot execution? Riding a damn horse? So I think, ok, so maybe I stole that horse, and somehow they know because they got an 12th century APB on a guy in white riding a black horse. So I try to walk into town. Same damn result. The only way to avoid having to run to a hay bale every 3 seconds is to walk slow as all ♥♥♥♥ past every single guard you see. And if you drop off a building next to one or even bump into one turning the corner, theres nothing you can do. Gotta hide.

So the only possible explanation is that these guards, or whoever they work for, have a thing against assassins, and they know that I am one. But Im pretty sure they arent templars, since I just recently fought a whole slew of them and these guys look different. So does everyone outside of Maysef (or whatever its called) have a vendetta against assassins? because if this game should have actually have been titled, "Walk super ♥♥♥♥ing slow every 3 seconds simulator 1100AD" then Im going to have a bad time.

If you're out in the open world the guards instant attack you on sight.

In the city, doing high profile actions will cause them to attack you. Also being on the roof, climbing around, sprinting into them, walking into them, standing next to them for too long will cause them to attack you.

Just ignore them in the open world, if they are catching you on a horse you are doing something wrong. You don't need to hide in a hay barrel to lose aggro in the open world, you can lose them by just running away with the horse for long enough.

Yeah I figured that all out pretty quick. What im asking is why these guards are trying to murder me on sight.

The guards in the cits make sense. They really don't care about me uleas I commit a crime, ♥♥♥♥ with them directly, or do some suspicious stuff. Basically what guards are supposed to do, even if I wasn't an assassin.

But these open world guards decide to kill me just for power walking instead of walking as slow as I can. Is there really no story/plot reason why those guards are so much more aggressive?

I mean the city guards are ruthless cause they still try and murder me for any crime I commit, but they at lEast act like guards. The guard's in the kingdom act more like monsters, like one you'd find in like final fantasy. No logic, just out to kill you. And yet there are innocent peasants out in the world who are allowed to walk as fast as they want without getting owned. It's just really throwing me off.

What I noticed while playing is before going into the big open area where the country guard automatically attack you. There were assassins that said hello to me on my horse that were blocking the road to the city we come from.

Once I passed them I noticed all the hyper aggressive guards. My guess is that there is a war going on and passing the barricade into a military controlled zone is what causes you to be attacked.

Pay attention to the story instead of complaining about everything in discussions. Then you'll understand everything.

I did pay attention to the story both times that I played through the game buddy. I didnt find the reason for it.
