Some not so obvious tips if you're struggling:
1. Don't put any points in Logistics at all until late, late game--the more carrying capacity the citizens have the more you'll struggle. (AI issue that should be addressed but you can work around it.)

Faster citizens are good though so roads and shoes are worthwhile.

2. Use small, narrow stock piles to surround your crop fields on three sides (3, 2x5's on each side of a 15x15 field is what I've been using--that could change as I play and learn the game more but on hard mode with a cold climate it's been working out the best). The fourth side should be a road with houses nearby.

Cancel all resource gathering in February to make sure your farmers are free to start planting the first day of March. Once you see people working the fields you can start to gather resources from the map again.

3. Don't surround your market place with neat rows of houses and have people travel to work. You want houses DIRECTLY across/around the production buildings.

4. Try to avoid opening and closing workplaces even if they're out of materials. If you keep people employed they're likely to be the first one to grab the needed resources when they become available.

5. After a building spree pause the game and close your production buildings, farms etc. and then open them back up in the order of most important to make sure the best/closest people are assigned those jobs.

6. The supply goes through boom and bust cycles when people stock their houses so before you scale back production of something check around in the houses to make sure everyone isn't going to be restocking their houses soon--they'll take hundreds at a time.

7. Churches, alcohol and/or candy to boost happiness and prevent murder (all houses should be covered by a church). Herbs, soap and bathhouses for health. Down coats will help a ton for cold citizens who can't get any work done. Citizens will warm up in the closest heated house so don't stress too much if some houses are cold.

Hope that helps someone. :) If you're considering buying Settlement Survivor, it's early access and there's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to work out but it's a good game and I like it a lot. There's really nice, thoughtful details throughout and you can tell how much care and consideration the dev team has put into their game.
