Hunter's Lodge Not Getting Animals
I have a hunter's lodge, but after years and years, I still have not acquired a single animal. Meanwhile, I've played other games where I easily spawn two species of animals. What am I doing wrong or is this something to do with the game?

You need to connecting different continents with bridges. It will be more effective to arrange more hunters in the first year.

I did this, but I am still not getting any animals. I can see them on the map, my hunters are getting leather, alpaca wool and other animal byproducts, but they are not bringing back any animals, even though I have a pasture that is staffed by someone (who is currently doing nothing).

Furthermore, without any crops that can make clothing, and hunter lodges unable to keep up with demand, I pretty much run out of clothes... am I missing something? Is there another way to acquire clothes early on?

I have the same problem. My huners hunt Alpaca but I can't domesticate them...Why?

It is really annoying because in some games I easily domesticate all the animals on the map and in other games I cannot domesticate any, but I don't feel I do anything differently.

The acquisition of both seeds and livestock is based on RNG in this game. Specifically for livestock, they also aren't a static resource you can just target for harvest/gathering like you'd expect in most games. As a result it's not something you can deliberately acquire (outside of trade) by sitting a gathering building right next to them (in this case the Hunting Cabin).

All you can really do in the beginning is build more Hunting Cabins and wait until the hunters find them.

Make sure your starting point is close to the seed markers on the map and send come people out to collect plants there asap. I don't think the 100% seed spots are random, either, nor can they have every seed in the game. In all of my games it seems these spots always give me flax, agave and peas/oats.

It doesn't matter how many hunting cabins I have, it is completely random. Four different games, and after multiple years, only 1 of them have successfully acquired animals from the wild.

I have also collected all the seed I can, and still unable to find seeds I need to make clothing. As of now, I have run out of clothing every time and I am not sure what I can do about it.

you find ALLWAYS flax, what you can turn into cloth with tech.

The difference between flax and leather is, that flax needs more manpower. you need around 9 people to make the same amount of flax to cloth, that the animals give you in leather and meat so i basicly buy cattle and sheep, than switch away from flax for clothing.

I had a rare baby animal appear in a flock next to my hunters lodge, the hunters couldn't never collected it lol.
I think animal RNG is on the broken side.

You will find TEARS collecting in your trading goods (if you have gatherers working), you don't get a chicken from that baby chicken, you get tears for some odd reason. They let you build things from blueprints.

Here is an example of where it says I have located the animals but I cannot put them in my pasture

The developers seem to believe that because it's possible after centuries of play it's working as intended. I've seen them reply to people posting similar with "Have you tried changing the speed to 10x" rather than accepting some things in game just don't progress at a reasonable rate.

I can understand your frustration, but as the game works currently, you have limited time before the animals you found or bought through trade will die. I lost a horse and a donkey I had bought because I did not prioritize building corals for them. Moreover, once you kill all animals in a pasture, you have to find another cub of the same type. So basically, if you had a pasture of a one type of animal, then switch to another, you can't switch back again, I learnt it the hard way. You have to maintain living animals of each type you find in you colony.

SJk48, Thank you for responding.

I understand what you are saying. I had empty pastures ready for animals but I never got a notification one of them was available to be placed in the pasture. It is a very strange game mechanic, I am not sure is the intention of the developer. This is early access so I will remain patient :)

As a side note, it seems the only way to acquire most animals is through trading, which is really tough early on in the game. As a result, the success of your community is highly dependent on the animals you are able to get early on if you get any at all.
