I want sandbox WITHOUT unlocking all the crap to get it. I don't have a lot of time to play and I get tired of jumping through so many hoops. I just want to build stuff and enjoy. That's my choice.
Like someone else wrote, I like the tech tree but it is stressful. I feel like I can't develop my village the way I want to (Banished style) in my own pace. Health and happiness has dropped absurdely fast and I have barely set up my usual (Banished) foundation - which is hunter, forester, gatherer, paddock, woodcutter and enough houses.
+1
I'd love for it to give toggle-able options like "unlock all tech yes/no", "unlock all seeds yes/no", "unlock all animals yes/no"
Perhaps even more customization options like "natural resource/tree yield" to tinker the gamestyle to your mood.
Even Rimworld has a Sandbox for example. I don't see how that is bad. I can spoil close to any game with exploits/trainer/hacks whatever. This would just make it 2 clicks faster.
Loving how the tech tree is an option in sandbox mode, hoping to see many more options in the future!
It would also be cool if there was an "add mountain ranges" tool similar to the river and terraform shovels.. and (*this is really dreaming) if certain crops could be grown on mountain ranges like the grapes or coffee beans could be placed on the side of the mountain. That would be pretty. I'm about 30 hours in both Standard and Sandbox modes and it was definitely worth the money but I got bored with my current town (Year 18) and I'm not inclined to start a new town knowing I have all the tech to wait for again if I do.
Also, and this one might just be my lack of knowledge, it would be great if there was more data on how much impact certain things have on Happiness and Health and if things stack. Like if I put 2 Churches catty corner so the circles overlapping the same market and houses do I get 2X happiness? and is a church worth more than a distillery? If kids get an education, will they be dissatisfied doing labor compared to my adult immigrants without education?
I liked the world events. All in all, great game. Highly recommend. I'll come back every few months to see what the developers do with it because its super fun, I'm just looking for that repeatability that isn't quite so much of a time commit every time unless I want it to be.
I've made a lot of posts about things I'd like to be different, but none of those things made me think I didn't want to play any more. I still thought it was a great game and enjoyed playing it.
The introduction of non-optional events was enough by itself to drive me away from Settlement Survival. I tried a few games after events were introduced but just didn't enjoy them. Same as the tutorial mode. I understand some people enjoyed getting the extra silver for "quests", and I totally supported it as an optional playmode, but I would not have liked it as a non-optional addition to the game.
For me, events break the flow of the game. Banished for me was always about the "coffee and ponder" and events completely derail that. I dislike the events dynamic so much so that I see myself uninstalling the game and changing my review from positive to negative.
I intend this as information, not as a threat. I understand one less player and one negative review is meaningless in the scheme of things. The intent is as feedback to convey that non-optional events can significantly change the player experience, and for some, maybe the smallest minority, it changes the player experience enough that they no longer want to play.
