I've experimented with alternatives for clothing as I've had a few games with no obvious stable way of producing clothing.
In the demo, I've built the hunting cabin at the very beginning at given it 3 hunters, but not got enough material to keep my population in clothes.
I always pick fertile farms but I don't ever remember seeing flax as a plantable seed. Maybe its a different tech and I'm missing it. Or I just haven't noticed.
Hopefully I'll work it all out when the full game is released.
Easily obtained in the wild how? I have harvested every plant on the map, and I haven't gotten flax seeds. I've gotten like, two seeds neither of which is useful.
The hunter has as much manpower as I can give it, it doesn't matter and there's so many jobs that need to be done giving it that manpower is crippling me in other ways and its still not producing enough. Easily my ass. They haven't recovered a single animal cub, despite there being many of the cow head icons on the various herds of animals, they barely produce any usable food and ♥♥♥♥ all leather. I have a tailor set to make clothing out of leather constantly, but the supply is so meager that I'm waiting on clothing for almost every single citizen literally all the time.
I can't trade for merchant ships, because their inventory is random and has NEVER once had a seed in it. And to be able to earn enough silver to get a seed, while possible requires more technology and wasting of resources on internal trade where money comes from nowhere. And the ONLY clothing based option I have for seeds on the ORDER screen is cotton, which I have to waste too many tech points to do in the demo, so that's a non starter. The other seeds aren't present and animals cost an absurd amount of silver to get more than seeds.
Fertile farms lets you plant things if you have the seeds, but not having the seed means you still can't do it and the seeds are random. Flax should be being turned into linen, not hemp, but it still doesn't matter because if you don't have the seed you cannot do it.
Perhaps you're just quite unlucky on that initial seed, but I always end up limited by the max tech level in the demo, not the inability to make clothes.
Hell, just about every game I aim for an animal farm from the very start and usually have it going long before I have any kind of trade up.
I've also been plenty affected by the max tech level, that's not really the point. And I've tried a few seeds now. But being that unlucky really shouldn't be a thing when the difficulty is marked as "easy". I often start with an animal, like chickens or the like but never anything useful for clothing except in the tutorial.
What they really need to do is an option, at the very least for clothes, to "make any". What a pain it is to constantly have to click on the tailor and keep switching between everything because the hunters make a little of each. Not to mention if you have something like llamas and one of the other animals that make leather when slaughtered.
Yeah that's my issue, no access whatsoever, even after upgrading the hunter with traps. Which I found on a random ship, but couldn't get through the Order menu either. It's like everything I NEED is not for Order but everything I couldn't use or give a ♥♥♥♥ about is.
This was my first run through, which honestly would be a quit moment for a LOT of players. But I soldiered on through two more attempts which were just as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for this and pissed me right off.
The best thing you can do ASAP is get gatherers in the areas highlighted to guarantee a seed. You will most likely get LINEN. Also there are so many animals that produce feathers and you can easily make mid tier clothes "Down Jacket"
So you're saying you need to employ too much of your workforce as hunters, and that time has some unknown effect which the player isn't privy to? Lovely. Doesn't that make the trap upgrade pretty freakin useless?
No, you WON'T most likely get linen, three playthroughs and not once did I get it. I always get other random seeds. This wouldn't be a thread if it was remotely reliable.
Dude. Chill. Breathe. I can guarantee getting heated will help no one. People and Dev has already tried to lay out your options for getting clothing. You can try to use your Hunters to get your animals pens started. Look for sheep on your map and see if that helps. If you have trouble with getting pens started, come back and ask for help on that.
I'm not heated, but telling me I'm wrong doesn't help. And you can't start a pen without capturing an animal, whether there are alpacas or sheep on the map or not doesn't really matter.
