Reinstalling didn't help, but video driver update did, in my case (Windows 7 64, NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250).

same here. but if you look on the minimum config at the bottom of the page you can read windows xp (only)......
Steam, you should have put it in even smaller and less noticeable writing. So one game i won't be able to play although i legally bought it.
Ahem, did you know that xp is no longer supported, even by microsoft....
