Need Help: Black screen and unable to move mouse.
Hello. My game was working fine until I plugged in a wired Xbox 360 controller. I can't move the mouse or the controller to select anything in the menu nether works.

I have tried verifying the game files and reinstalling though that doesn't work ether.

i just got the game and this happened to me too. first i would recommend disabling steam input so the controller prompts function correctly. (right click the game in your library -> properties -> controller -> disable steam input) use your controller to navigate the menus and go into options -> video and turn up the brightness and the contrast.

Thank you for your response. I disabled the Steam Input. Though sadly I still can't control the controller the cursor is stuck at the top left of my screen and the input goes all over the place selecting things randomly. I cannot move the cursor down or buttons down to select the other settings.

Thanks for getting in touch about this, Violet, and thanks Wombocorp for your insights too. I understand you're having an issue with your 360 gamepad not working - I'll be happy to give you some pointers for this!

Please see our troubleshooting guide[www.ubisoft.com]. It's great that you've already verified the game files - from the guide, please also check for updates to your Windows install, run the game with admin rights, and check for any background programs that might be interfering with the game or gamepad (such as gamepad emulators or rebinding programs).

If it doesn't work after those steps, please also use our compatibility mode guide[www.ubisoft.com] to run the game in Windows XP compatibility mode.

If neither of those sets of steps solves the issue, let me know - I'll have some further steps we can try!

Thank you so much for your response. I have tried running the game in compatibility mode and have run the game with the admin rights. Though the game still isn't working properly.

No it doesn't work if I unplug the controller and try to use the keyboard instead.

I can't use the mouse in the menu's as the mouse cursor flickers all over the place. I am able to get into the game though it just has a black screen so I can't see anything. Though I can't change the settings to turn up the brightness or turn up or down the mouse sensitivity. I don't have control over the cursor it just goes up and down and all over the place, I am able to click on settings and get into the game by change hoping the cursor lands on the right thing. Though I don't have control over it so I can't change the settings.

Thanks for getting back to us - sorry to hear it still isn't working!

May we please know the specs of your PC (GPU, CPU, RAM, Laptop / Desktop)?

And could you please try checking your Steam Controller settings by going to; Steam (Upper left of the client) > Settings > Controllers > General Controller Settings.

There, could you please try toggling Xbox Configuration Support off / on when testing the game to see if there's any changes?

Hey Rose, my english is not the best but, I want to tell you I solved the problem.

As wombocorp said, go to options using ARROW KEYS and ENTER so you can change contrast, brightness and sensitive of mouse with LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW.

I know writing capital letter could be like shouting but is only to show important things.
