Chapter 7 still bugged

Spoilers.

I have 2 bugs with the four eyed machine. I have the latest GOG version of the game.

1. When assembling the right side part of the four eyed machine, that part disappeard and I couldn't find it in my inventory

2. After the above, I went back tot the menu and reloaded the save which fixed the disappearing part. But then for some reason I couldn't zoom in (double-click) on the right lower eye to fully open its "eyelids" in order to insert the cable. I could only make it open half way and turning green. The other 3 eyes worked fine.
Reloading the save again made it all of a sudden fully open with the cable inserted.

I read about the 1st bug but anyone experienced the 2nd bug before?

the game stalled on loading chapter 7 for me (black screen after clicking "chapter 7")
...no bugs in chapter 7. for the above, maybe i clicked too soon, before click prompt?
