Cannot get pin on Chapter 2

I have seen the play throughs and I know I am supposed to click on the lock and click the pin. But it seems that whenever I click on the lock, it zooms in much closer than in the videos and I cannot remove the pen by clicking on it. Any help would be appreciated!

Did you ever get this? I was thinking the note meant use the borescope keys but I could only zoom in and center the pin on the screen. Then I accidentally clicked on the alien machine keys and that action moved the pin.

Ah, that puzzle. Perhaps a bit late for you, (but useful to anyone else coming along with a similar problem) is there is one trick with the borescope that is used in a couple of places...notice that the scope screen doesn't cover all of the screen...you still have access to controls on the alien device , not just the scope controls. In your case, do the classic goofball maneuver when studying alien devices...go play with the buttons. :-)
