We don't have a way to mute yourself in game yet, but it is a planned feature. You can mute yourself through your VR settings for now

nope i cant iam not using the HMD´s audio or microphone(iam using my dedicated pc´s soundcard) so iam forced to hardware mute myself wich is very annoying as i cannot talk to people in discord as i also would be talking in game constantly.
Same problem with people who would use a wireless headset while in vr.

We understand it is an issue for people, and it is a high priority for us too. I'm hoping to be able to fit it into the next update, but if we miss that one then it should be the next one after that.

Push to talk, Push to talk, Push to Talk!!!

It seriously blows my mind that, living in todays world, with the toxic wasteland that is the internet, and knowing how open mic voip always ends up, Devs haven't figured out that push to talk should be a standard option in any video game with voip. :MMWhataday:

As of update 0.7 that released on 5/13, there is now a self-mute button located on the wristwatch menu. There is no dedicated push to talk button for now, it's just a toggle mute.

How about a way to mute others?!

People are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around and it is really hard to concentrate on learning the game. No matter what I did I couldnt mute other people in any of the settings. Only way was to disable the sound entirely!

You can mute other players by going to Social in the watch menu, then clicking on the name of the player that you want to mute, then there should be a mute button available. I totally understand why you couldn't find it though, it's a bit tucked away in the menus.

Additionally if you'd like to blanket mute all other players then you should be able to turn the Voices volume slider in the Settings menu down to 0.

get OVR Advanced Settings and set up a push to talk globally for steamvr. It can be a bit weird to navigate the menus but i have mine set to pressing left touchpad on index. you can set it to anything, offhand trigger also works in most cases without interfering with gameplay much.
