Game not playable when using steam input

Hey,

I hope that this thread caches the eye of the developer(s). The game has potential and looks interesting, although I'm unable to play it. Below I list out scenarios what I tried and what happened:

1. Big picture + Keyboard = OK
2. Big picture + Xbox controller = no input
3. Big picture + Steam controller = no input
4. Desktop + Keyboard = OK
5. Desktop + Steam overlay + Xbox controller = no input
6. Desktop + Steam overlay + Steam controller = no input
7. Desktop + No Steam overlay + Xbox controller = OK
8. Desktop + No Steam overlay + Steam controller = OK
9. Desktop + No Steam overlay + Xbox controller custom mappings = no input
10. Desktop + No Steam overlay + Steam controller custom mappings = no input

Also when the game is in big picture, steam does not detect that it is running.
If I alt+tab it allows me to start another, and another copy...
When I quit big picture, steam asks if I would like to close it, and when I get to the desktop it is still running.
