I hated the ending
I do get what the game is about, but i feel so frustrated about how it was "done".

First of all, I hate when a the start of the story, you already know the ending or part of it, so I expected some kind of twist the whole game. Didn't happen ofc.

While Remi and Jun got some kind of character development, it feels like Eda got none.
She didn't change one bit until it was too late. Red wanted her to be herself, not a second Red, and yet she ended up being Red 2.

It's as if the whole journey meant nothing, you as a player, were as powerless as Jun and Remi.
You couldn't help her, you couldn't save her, and she passed the burden she had unto you.
She had been looking for Red for years, knowing perfectly well that Red was probably dead
Then, Jun and Remi end up stuck, waiting 66 years to be able to have closure, knowing perfectly well that Eda is no more. Closure that Remi didn't get btw, too bad.

What I hated the most about it, is how it happened out of nowhere. Let me explain, remember when we nearly died in Banshee ? We kinda managed to get out, there's an argument about if we should go to Phoenix or not, then Eda decides to give up on it. Finally, she listens to reason. And boom, everything went to ♥♥♥♥ just like that.
Honestly, I'm ok with bad endings, but I really hate feeling powerless as a player. It completly felt like my time playing the game was useless. The ending just felt forced on me.

So, I finished the game, and when I finish a game i usually think about what i got out of it.
I got nothing out of this game. It's just a sad story that I couldn't interact with as a player.
I'd rather not have played it nor known about it.
Can't say the game was bad, it wasn't, but I can say I hated the story and the narration.
I don't need to be reminded life is ♥♥♥♥, and ♥♥♥♥ happens, I already know that.

I saw this game's devs are chinese Taiwanese, no idea if they take feedback from here, no idea if my message is even worth being considered as a feedback but I just wanted to say ; as someone who is new to your games, after playing this one, which was indeed good, I don't want to play your other games if they are as frustrating as this one. For the same reasons I evoked above, I don't think I'd recommend it to my friends.

That said, if there ever is a Starsong 2 game, I'll buy it.
Have a great day.

Not sure if I should feel bamboozled or otherwise reading the last part of your passage there. xD

But about Eda's development, I feel like you didn't really give her enough credit. While perhaps we can agree her stubbornness is making her 'Red no. 2', ironically it's what made her eventually to be true to herself, which is the entire point of her story.

Eda spent almost her entire life trying to be someone she's not. But wanting to find out what happened to Red even though well-knowing her only parental figure is most likely dead is something Eda alone chose for herself. She always have the choice to give up the quest entirely, but she chose to pursue it till the end because her heart says she wanted to seek closure about Red's fate, just as Red told her to 'listen to the voice within'.

If she gave in to Jun and Remi's concerns, will she be able to do so sincerely? Will she able to move on without carrying deep regrets? If she decides to listen to reason, she'd be no different than her trying to be Red's shadow because she'd be forcing herself to follow other people's wishes. It's just not what her heart says. She has always been developing, just not in a manner that is obvious.

We also need to remember that Eda have been stringing Remi and Jun along in her quest. They are constantly exposed to danger. Reminder that they are both also her loved ones, and she's afraid of losing them. She cannot afford to be too selfish, lest risking their lives and potentially getting them killed. She's struggling to choose whether the danger would be worth to continue her quest, as constantly reminded by Dr. Ruchell that all she's doing is trying to get the Red Chamber crew killed.

By choosing to go on to the Phoenix alone, she was able to finally stop stringing Jun and Remi into certain peril. It was that moment she finally realise that being true to her heart comes with the price of being extremely selfish and making sacrifices. In this case, her sacrifice is not being able to see Jun and Remi ever again. That's why she lamented over Red's body on how being true to herself is so painfully difficult

We have always been helping her till the end, just not the way we like it to be. xD

I agree with what Haichikun said about Eda, though I still also don't really like the ending either simply because a lot of the really good story games I have played lately have all had and/or ended on the bittersweet note, so I was really hoping for a nicer/happier ending even though I could tell from the characters that wasn't going to happen.

Kinda why I out of the three games I think I prefer the first the most, as despite how this one could be seen as more interesting due to the world and character development, the first while following a pretty liner and standard hero's' journey story pattern, the format is popular for a reason because people always like a happy ending.

I could be critical of the story, how Eda never got proper (loving) support from Red as she was instead always too hard on her, and how maybe if she did, then she wouldn't have needed to go on this whole quest but while nice and fluffy, that unfortunately wouldn't be very interesting. I was engrossed in the story right up until the very end where for my own emotional health I had to block myself out and stop caring, meaning it had no resonance on me where I only felt indifference. What bothers me is that despite the enjoyment I had with the game, it is the last feeling that will always be the most prominent to remember due to being the most recent, which is why I have personally grown somewhat tired of all the sad/bittersweet endings as it leaves me very little happiness that I can take away from the experiences.

That all being said though, the developers have more then proven themselves as masters of storytelling, so regardless of whatever the next Opus game is about I know I will play and enjoy it.
