[general plot].
In the course of the walkthrough, we play as two caregiver girls. As far as I understand, they are care workers for the elderly. The first girl, Sachie, arrives at Souichi's old man's house, and witnesses some terrible things. She follows the foul smell to the first floor and sees an incomprehensible creature in one of the rooms. At the same time, someone is watching her from the side. The day ends and the narrative moves on to the second girl, Naomi. From her conversation with her boss, she learns that Sachie is not coming to work. She assumes it's because of some personal problems. And since they are short-staffed, she sends Naomi to take over the shift. Strange things happen to Naomi as they did to Sachie, but Naomi returns unharmed. The next day Naomi finds out that Sachie is not feeling well, so she decides to check on her. Also, Naomi finds Sachie's work diary, which details visits to Souichi's house. The last day's entry states that she saw an old woman in that very room on the first floor. Now Sachie is sitting at home, complaining that she feels cold. When Naomi tries to ask a question about Souichi, Sachie is overcome by a panic attack and asks to be left alone. Afterwards, we see Sachie run out of the flat and jump off the balcony. However, we don't see any reason why she did this. On the last day, Naomi enters an empty house, where she discovers a hole leading to a dungeon. And there she finds Souichi, dressed for the ritual. She rescues Souichi and defends herself from a strange old woman with no eyes. After that, she is attacked by the source of the curse itself.
[explanation]
And now, I'll explain exactly what I understood. The demon that is the source of the curse is a karasu tengu. An ancient demon of Shintoism. After Souichi's wife died, he used her dead body to perform a ritual on the living Souichi. Karasu tengu used his wife's body to kill the man she loved the most - that is, Souichi. That was the point of the ritual. After releasing Souichi, we find his wife in the same dungeon, who says she only wanted to be with Souichi. This confirms her love. Perhaps a demon got hold of her mind and made her commit suicide in the past. And then planned to kill Souichi with her hands as well. Karasu tengu was able to influence people's minds and make them do rash things. The victims in the note found in the dungeon were also influenced by karasu tengu. From this we can conclude that the first Sachie girl was also driven insane by it. Why exactly he would do that is unknown. We won't find any parallels to the myths here. In mythology, karasu tengu appears as a versatile character capable of both good and evil. Perhaps karasu tengu sought his true incarnation. His smoky form may hint at this. As for Souichi, he was wearing a tengu mask in the dungeon. This could mean that the tengu was trying to incarnate through Souichi's body. He was brought to the dungeon by his dead wife. The knife Naomi stabs him with looks a lot like a vajra. It's a Hindu and Buddhist ritual weapon that legend has it was created to fight demons (lower spirits). Karasu tengu is the lowest spirit in the Shinto pantheon. Logically, hitting it with a vajra should have exorcised it. But at the end we see the wings of the karasu tengu growing out of Souichi's body in the graveyard. And the inscription says that as soon as Naomi entered Souichi's house, he was gone. Perhaps Souichi was already under the influence of the tengu, and their fight with Naomi was just her vision. At any rate, the wings prove that the tengu was not banished, and that some part of it still found expression in Souichi.
