escape machine city: airborne is a short escape room game ported from mobile, much like one of the developer's previous games, dreamcage escape. it appears to be the follow-up to escape machine city, but that isn't available on pc for some reason. luckily(?), there's not much narrative, so nobody's missing anything by skipping it.

basically, you have to figure out what happened on the huge airship-city thing, because capitol city declared 2 days' radio silence 'sinister.' 15 levels once again, each pretty short (think minutes for most of them), but the fun park and some other places were cool and there's a good variety of puzzles, even if they're on the easy side. no hidden coins to collect this time, but hints are available in case you manage to get stuck. puzzles can be skipped too.

can't say the hint system is great, the one time I wanted to use it in the observatory, it told me something I couldn't do, then just offered to skip the whole thing. had to look it up and turns out, I did something in the wrong order and didn't realize I could undo it without restarting the chapter. so it wasn't a bug after all, but at that particular point in time the hint should've pointed to a different place first.

very mobile 3d graphics, colorful, retro-futuristic, but low resolution. forgettable music, and since you get instructions through a walkie talkie, each line is accompanied by the same cracking sound. annoying for sure but I've heard much worse, the noise when manipulating numbers in the observatory being one, and the computer in the science lab another.

settings-wise it's the same as their other game, no improvements over the years. no windowed mode (that's an actual step back), no volume settings, only toggles, and there's a single graphics quality setting, a how to play section and level select. while the tutorial starts out with the always annoying tapping nonsense, it soon turns into clicking, because luckily the right mouse button zooms out.

not much else to say, it's okay for 1-2 hours now that it's not ridiculously overpriced, like some of its ilk, though the new full price is still too much for what you get, so maybe wait for a sale. it originally cost 12 eur on pc, still not as bad as some greedy developers and their lazy mobile ports going for 15-20. and since these folks realized their mistake and lowered it to a more reasonable 4 eur and only the first 8 levels are free on mobile, not the whole thing, we're not getting that much of a raw deal on pc this time.

Fun little escape room game to chill with for a couple of hours. Definitely on the casual side and not one that will leave you hairless though depending on how experienced you are with these types of games a few of the puzzles may require you to stop and think a moment. Mostly I felt that would happen when you know what the goal is, but you and the game might not agree on how to get from A to B, so you just have to forget whatever idea initially popped in to your head and rethink the possibilities that you have with the items at hand. :D :D

The game offers a hint function as well as the option to completely skip a puzzle if you find it too hard or don't have the patience.

Bright colorful graphics and a minor storyline, but the game is clearly all about the puzzles. Not a bad place to start with this type of game before moving on to the much more challenging ones in this genre like The Room series.

Easy game for achievement hunters...all achievements are completed by just playing through the game (and as previously mentioned you could technically skip through a lot of or even all the puzzles, but where is the fun in that :D )

Recommended, with a few caveats (just things you should know before buying the game).

The story is very shallow- don't go into this thinking you are going to get a deep sci-fi novella experience.
The puzzles start off quite easy and do become more challenging as you go- the progression is quite nice, but nothing terribly difficult- you don't need to be a rocket scientist to complete this game. But it will require some logical thinking skills.

If you get stuck, you can restart a level from the menu. The game also gives unlimited hints, though the hints are really just a "look over here and you need to do something or use something there." type of hint system. The game will let you skip steps and get stuck, but none of the levels are terribly long if you need to restart one because you rushed and missed a step in the puzzle.

I enjoyed it, though I wished it had a little more story to it.
Would be a great "starter" puzzle game for an older child (possibly with adult assistance) or a teen, but not bad for an adult either. Might be a bit too easy for people who love mindbendingly difficult puzzle games.

Very short game- if you use the hints and skip all puzzles- maybe an hour or slightly less. If you don;t use hints (or very many hints) around 1-1.5 hours, maybe 2-3 hours if you go really slowly, need to replay a level or two, or are really new to puzzle games.

Ran without any issues on Windows 10 no tweaking needed, very nice crisp graphics. You can turn the music off in the main menu if it bothers you. Not a ton of settings to adjust anything, but it should run on a potato. No bugs, no stuttering or hitching, game ran smoothly throughout.

I picked it up in the BLSBundle during the Winter Sale, so it didn't cost me too much, and I had a good time with it, so i am happy. For full price- if you love puzzle game, it'll be cheaper than renting a movie on YT. If you only "kinda like" puzzle games- maybe 50% off. If you hate games that are nothing but puzzles with no real story to them- maybe skip it.

Currently the game is "Profile Features Limited", so even though it's a fairly easy 2-3 hour "Perfect Game", the achievements can't be used in any profile showcases yet, and it will not raise your Perfect Games count until/unless it hits the metrics Valve sets to enable profile features. So- Achievement Hunters need to keep that in mind.

Escape room game. Fairly short. It's pretty easy overall and there's a few spots where you might have to restart the level if you overlook something. Although the graphics aren't terrible, about what I'd expect for this type of game, I don't recommend at full price.

Not bad, but will barely make the neurons stir - buy it on sale or skip it.

Fwiw, for my friend w/ busted hands, the end has a mildly-tricky "drag the steering wheel towards the target, adjusting for wind"... so maybe avoid.

Fun little game.
Only 15 levels.
Not very difficult.

It's totally playable but I found other games by this developer much better. Given that I totally completed the thing in under 90 minutes without a guide it felt overall pretty pointless, especially since the other games by this developer are longer and more challenging. The only puzzle I had to pause on was in the final area and the solution was more stupid than anything. I don't mind if a game like this isn't difficult but this one went by so quick it felt pointless to even install it on my computer.

A fairly easy little adventure with a nice 3D art style. The puzzles are a mix of inventory based and logic puzzles and if you are experienced they wont be too challenging. I enjoyed the three and change hours it took to solve. Very kid friendly if you are looking for a present for a kid.

mostly a well designed game. Unfortunately it seems to be focused on ayounger audience as most of the 'puzzles' were extremely easy. Maybe Steam should consider employing an age indication like the ones used in old school board games, as this one would appear best suited to elementary school age children. Also, on of the principle reasons I play puzzle/problem solving games is that I don't like shooter/platforn games requiring dexterity because of my limited ability to play them. Like so many puzzle games I have played, this one was spoiled for me at the end with the rather obscure 'landing' task. So, it was a well put together game, but far too easy and please leave the platmorm tasks to the Mario Brothers et al.

A short but fun puzzle game that feels very much like playing The Room. The environments looks great and the puzzles all have their own unique style keeping with the steampunk theme.
