Combat Mission Black Sea

mortar accuracy
the mortars seem to be bugged with how off target they are, like they are landing off map. Is this part of the game? How can i use the mortars accurately?

Does your observer have a clear line of sight with the target?

i believe he does, otherwise i wouldnt be able to call it in.
Good point! I mean, people have called in indirect on known locations and/or sounds, without direct LOS, so was just curious. Also, is there a LOS tool available? Been a few years since I played, but seemed to recall a similar function available.

When I last played a few years ago, mortars worked fine and you still had to adjust or bracket. However, if they are landing off map, then that seems like a bug. By chance, do you have a Slitherine account? If so, maybe post or search in those forums? I've followed this game since it dropped on Steam and before, on Matrix and your problem doesn't seem to be a consistent fault.

you can LOS by equipping the fire order and hovering over. i am still new and trying to figure things out. no slitherine account, but ill consider researching further, ty.

I think it was a LOS issue, not a bug. Just checked and mortars can be called in without LOS, which leads to extreme inaccuracy. edit: i actually have no idea

Observer seeing the target is great, but what an Observer needs to see to provide Fire Direction is the fall of shot rounds

If shot rounds land off map, mostly likely an Observer will be unable to see, so more rounds will be sent and since no correction was made and modern mortars are highly precise, most likely they land similarly off target

you must have in mind the wind conditions to know the end direction of projectiles.

Just like the terrain elevation and air pressure (well, in real life. I haven't seen this in games so far).
