Combat Mission Black Sea

Looking for more info on the campaigns.
Long ago I played the original combat mission games, and while I remember loving it, I don't remember too much. This game looks great, I was just wondering what the campaigns are like? Do you get so many points in each mission to buy new units, while your core units travel from battle to battle? How is the AI?

Campaigns in CM are sets of missions that must be competed in order. The player typically controls a core unit, typically sized at about a battalion (ex: an Armored Battalion TF), throughout the campaign. This unit and other forces are set by the campaign designer, and any losses to the core unit are carried forward. You occasionally get command of other, non-core units during a battle for a specific mission (ex: you get a Stryker platoon in the 2nd mission of the US campaign that never appears again).

In each mission, a specific part of the formation (typically a company, but it can be larger or smaller) is deployed to complete the mission. For example, only Alpha company of the US TF is deployed in mission one of the US campaign.

The AI varies as it relies on plans set by the scenario designer in advance. There are typically multiple plans so there is some replayability.

Worth noting: Campaigns are not necessarily entirely linear but can be branching depending on performance in the previous mission.
