Random Battle Generator

I have yet to buy game but was really just interested in skirmish type games using the Battle Generator.

Questions.
(1)Is there sufficient replay between Russia,Ukraine and USA if I generate random battles?

(2)If I just want randomly generated battles would this game or else Shock Force 2 be better? Also how does Cold War compare in this regard? Which of the 3 games has a better random battle generation?

Another question ,

(3) Is it possible to edit the Unit (tanks,apcs) attributes ,to make them move faster,have more armour ,or how many points they cost for example?
{I do this in a 2D game I play called Campaign Series Middle East which I really like; I also exclusively play that game in random battle generation.}

Re. 1) Some people use the human selection option for the units and the map and save the game at the start of the first turn, then repeat until they have dozens of games ready to go as save files. By the time they play one, they hope to have forgotten the details about what forces were selected.

[EDIT] You can just let the game generate all forces and the map completely randomly but the results can be a bit odd, as you would expect for complete randomness.

Re. 2) If you want variety then Shock Force 2 with all DLCs is better as you have many more sides to play. You can play as the Germans, Dutch, Canadians, British, American Army, American Marines and as Syria. In Black Sea you can only play as the Ukrainians, Americans or Russians.

Re. 3) You can make units green or elite etc. when purchasing units but you can't directly edit a unit stats file or something like that.

I am still playing the CM1 games.
I downloaded a lot of user created scenarios which seem really good ,
even for Africa Korps game there is Normandy Battles that are more fun than the vanilla ones. I am thinking of just deleting all the vanilla Scenarios and only playing custom scenarios -without deleting the originals it is confusing as to whether scenarios are new or not.

Have not really tried the Random Battle Generator there yet ,have all 3 titles from GoG.
Edit-just had a quick play with the random Battle Generator for Afrika Korps ,made 2 quick Battles ,it is really good. Surprised me.


There is a huge amount of gameplay in this CM1 series and mods galore.

Yet to get into the new series,most interested in Fortress Italy ,may have to buy on Battlefront Site.
