Weapon upgrade?

I can see there's a level on the weapon screen so I guess you can upgrade them but so far nothing. I a bit after beating the sorceress with the field of fire.

Maybe it's normal but even the most basic mobs are super spongy now (like 4 hit)

They wouldn't have made weapon upgrade super missable, would they?

Pretty easy to miss the blacksmith. Go back to the area right before the hound lady and drop down behind the elevator. Kill the templar dude and give her the key. She'll then spawn at skyrest. While looking at the vestige, go right and then turn right before the open area.

It looks like max lvl for normal weapon is +10 and +5 for boss weapon

There's a total of 3 chunks in the game I think (Last material to +10 a weapon.
One is at the frozen place after you cleanse the beacon, There's a chest next to it
