Let's spam ranged and elite enemies in low places all the time, it will be fun :)
The devs had no idea what soulslike means. It's not hard for the sake of being hard by any means.
The archers also don't aim that good as you can run to the side to avoid their arrows but the AOE is pretty big and hurts a bunch. Every other enemy in that area is not really hard its just you have to approach the encounters a lot more tactically with those archers thrown in.
Just take a break and come back with a fresh mind. Every souls game has areas like this where its like beating your head against a wall until you take your time and take a break if needed.
I strongly disagree, but thats what opinions are for
I disagree because from my 30+ hrs none of the enemy placements feel "haphazardly thown" in. Each zone has very deliberate enemy placement that is designed to be a challenge to keep the players on their toes, and to keep people thinking tactically and not let people "go through the motions" like most souls games devolve into.
I heard people use the term "artificial difficulty" yet I see it as its designed as intended. The player is put in situations where they have to choose how to tackle them, and the game has so many "2nd wind" opportunities that its balanced around those.
For example if this game had a 1 life system like most other souls games, I would probably agree the challenge would be a bit much, but you have a second opportunity in EVERY situation your put into (even more if you near a umbral change point). The game has many mechanics that can be used to turn the tide of a fight in your favor, like soul flay, kick to stagger, ranged weapons to pick off enemies, parry, and a very generous i-frame dodge that pushest enemies away when things get rough...etc.
i have played most of the game with a heavy roll and slow great swords and even then the challenge felt manageable give you went in to every encounter with patience, and an escape route if you get overwhelmed.
The literal reason why I like this game so much is 100% because of the challenge and its a challenge I have not felt since playing DS1 back in the day. Most other souls games after DS1 were far too easy imo and since everything was beat by i-frame roll and r1 spam the formula became dull. This game and its difficulty have been a breath of fresh air for me personally.
