There's this mercenary person in the swamp who told me to get an amulet off her cause it petrified her, there was an item right next to her so I assumed I was supposed to get to it. I tried but the game would only let me talk to her and make her repeat that I needed to free her. There was an enviromental item right next to her so I started attacking that one, to no avail and because I kept trying to break that I accidentally hit her and I think I might have murdered her. I technically alt+f4'd right afterwards hoping to not have screwed myself over an npc, but how are you supposed to get the item off of her?

Did some research in this cause I did the same. In fact I thought the item was also going to free her, so fun coincidence. Don't believe you're missing out on much outside of her armor and her being a buddy for bossfights (she's a mercenary and requires payments).

Believe you're supposed to use healing magic on her to break the spell. Doesn't matter what it is, even the Empyrean Grenade works if you don't have any Radiance.

If you're into achievements, you probably need to do a new game plus in order to obtain the accessory (or armor?) from her. Otherwise, you're not missing much.
As someone has mentioned, Empyrean Grenade also works.

Oh I see, thank you for the answers! I kinda like the fashion-souls gameplay but I dunno if I wanna redo the game just for that, maybe new game plus.

I kind of don't find myself using those much, they usually put the limited use tiny ones close enough to the big rest spots, so I just end up using the bigger rest places always

It wouldnt be a problem of the limit of vestiges you can have in your inv be bigger than 5, but 99 as it actually shows, its probally bugged as of now.

I can't quite recall where to get the Empyrean Grenade, but I'm pretty sure I got it early in the game.
There is a spell that cleanses status effects, such as Santicfy, can't use a normal self-healing spell on her.

Yeah its a starter item, lol never checked that as i use holy magic
