EDIT: It starts with a bit of Radiance, which helps decipher some additional item lore. Again, emphasising how good of a starting class it is.
The only things that are kinda lackluster is your starting weaponry. While Paladin Isaac's Sword will be plenty fine starting out, eventually you should replace it with something better later on. Oh, and you don't have a starting shield and the throwable weapon you have does "meh" damage but can heal yourself or summons if you get caught in it's AOE.
Personally, it's not worth the extra money in the form of the Deluxe Edition but Issac's Questline is most certainly worth completing on your first playthrough for the armor and starting class alone.
