Whats the point of maps?

I have dozens of maps in my inventory but there is no way to view them, are they there just for the sake of being there?

Go to the journal tab instead of inventory tab. You can view all the maps there.

wdym? i think the maps are great. they show you the landmarks you need to look out for in order to progress through an area. its such a good idea imo. reminds me of adventure movies like indiana jhones where they have to find the path based on someones notebook etc.

Maps are designed how maps should be designed. You don't have a satellite GPS from space, you have a drawn map that shows landmarks you have to find, to find your way forward to the correct path.
