VSync locked?
VSync seems to be locked since they disabled frame gen (worked fine for me day 1) Lots of the issues they listed seemed to have to do with EGS, and not steam so why disable features that worked fine for some?

I don't thing the vsync lock is due to FG. This option was always locked for me. The only one time that it wasnt lock were directly after the FG patch but now, it's locked again. I have edit my gameusersetting and disabling it has any effect. It's sill enable and locked in game. And before someone ask, yes, i have put my ini file on read only mode after editing it

It unlocked for me on day 1 when I disabled DLSS, and was able to turn DLSS back on after disabling it. Never seen a game outright disable the VSync option it causes problems with Gsync displays.

The only way to unlock vsync atm is turning it off in nvidia control panel but you will get screen tearing because gsync does not work.

I think Epic Games is mentioned in the Patch Notes because they are the developer/owner of Unreal Engine, nothing to do with their storefront...

wrong. V sync has nothing to do with Gsync...absolutly nothing.
Are u that sort of people that use vsync with gsync ? lul
One tipp, turn vsync off. EVER, no exeption.
It give u input lag...yeees also with gsync and give u no benefit.
Go to youtube and look for battlenonsense. This Guy is King and explain u everything.

You can't be more wrong.

V-sync should always be ON in nvidia control panel when you use G-sync,
and OFF ingame - because this way v-sync will activate when you go above your refreshrate. 0 tears this way.

G-sync currently does not work!

there is an option to enable frame gen if it worked for your before patches. Check the patch notes
"DLSS Frame Generation Manual Activation
Yesterday, we globally deactivated DLSS Frame Generation after discovering through Sentry that it was one of the main causes of crashes on 40 series GPUs for the vast majority of its owners.

However, some community members have requested that we reactivate it because they were not experiencing issues and preferred the higher framerate it offers.

While we won't be activating it by default until the issue is fully resolved, we've added a way for you to manually activate it if you wish by adding in launch options "-DLSSFG". "

holy ♥♥♥♥♥. that's embarrassing.
imagine being so arrogant and knowing nothing...
people, do what coconut 2 posts above mine said and follow his link.
enabling vsync and gsync in the driver so they can work together is very important.
vsync in game graphics settings always off.
also set the low latency mode in the driver to ultra.
nvidia even notes that this mode is especially effective when gsync and vsync are both enabled in the driver.

edit:

hahaha, it gets even worse for you.
i checked this battlenonsense guy's video about optimal gsync and he's doing it actually right.
he activates vsync, gsync and low latency mode ultra in the driver.
he just makes 2 small mistakes by limting the fps in the game instead of the driver and keeping vsync enabled in the game.

Battlenonsense video is old my fault.
Gsync ultimate stands alone .
Your link is 2017, without the new drivers and gsync ultimate.
In old times vsync use to be as a frame limiter, but not today.
Use RTSS or Nvidia Frame LImiter, maybe ingame whats the best option ist.
But turn this old vsync s... off.
Its not much, but it gives u a bit input lag.
Cap Your fps 4 under your max hz and all done.
U can try it.
Turn vsync off and be sure Gsync is on.
U can activate the Gsync indicator in the control panel under display and u know every time when gsync is active ingame.
Sometimes Gsync can failure or a driver update issue or monitor driver issue etc ets. It can happen.
Its a little green sign in the upper right screen.
Try it and u wll be surprised.

kingoneda...

read my comment above and finally stop spreading disinformation.

1. nvdia, and now listen closely, even tells you in the low latency mode's ultra setting's description box under the settings menu that it works most effectively when gsnyc and vsync are combined in the driver.
let me repeat. nvidia tells you to combine gsnyc and vsync.
and the blur busters guide, battlenonsense, coconut and i do the same since it's obvious when you understand the tech behind it.

2. almost everything you just said was wrong...again.
so one last time.
vsync is never used as a framelimiter but against tearing and it has nothing to do with gsync ultimate modules or not.
casuals should really be quiet and listen when nvidia and enthusiasts tell them how stuff is done.

and i won't repeat this again.
i'm out. 👋🏻

So if your monitor has adaptive sync is there a need for vsync/gsync?
