Finding out where to go
...maybe i am having a brain fart, but i am finding relatively "hard" to get my bearing with this game, with the scenario changing and sometimes hidden roads.

I do manage to find where to go, eventually, but it's quite frustrating and a perceived waste of time going back and forth looking for a minuscule road i didn't see the first time.

Is there a "press to know where to go" mechanic, somewhere? or even a map like in Elden Ring?

For instance, in Elden Ring i never got lost, it just happens here.

They give you maps in each area. The map is designed the way it is, to lead you to the proper way you're suppose to go.

Ok, sorry, perhaps it's a dumb question but... i tried going into my inventory to read the maps but it didn't work, i also tried pressing select, but that too did not work.

How do i open the map?

Your map tab is actually in the inventory screen itself, one of the many tabs you can tab to. It's under journal.

the maps are landmarks you hope you can recognize while you're there, mostly its a bunch of wandering around in umbral. aesthetically the maps are cool and interesting but i honestly havnt been able to make any use of them other then "oh i definitely past this before". to the ops credit, this has probably been my biggest issue with the game because every area loops you around like a hotwheels track and then spits you out some random pathway to the next one. like im a fan of a shortcut, i just have no idea how many new areas ive unlocked vs new shortcuts to the same vestige.

There is a map and mapping clues, go in your menu and in journal to look at them
