How linear is this game?

Like does it force you to go through the lights in a fixed order or does it open up?

it's as open as Dark Souls was. Multiple ways to go, interconnecting locations, etc

I'm completely lost in this game and I played all DS games and Elden Ring but the player guidance in this one is horrible. Killed Pieta now I'm in the main hub, opened up a elevator, cleared a "undead path" on the other side of the hall but no blacksmith, no loot from the boss, no information where to go just "cleanse stuff". I hate watching youtube for everything just to play trough a game but in this case it's mandatory.

be prepared, its a long way to bring the blacksmith to the hub...be prepared:)
