is socketing runes bugged?
i just put my first rune into my weapon (increases agility scaling)

but it seems to do nothing. scaling stays the same at C+ to C+, damage stays the same 355 to 355, and swinging at enemies also deals the same damage 288 to 288

We asked ourselves the same thing with my friend. We don't see any effect on the scaling. I was thinking that we might be too low level to see the effects, but I realized we were around 40ish, which should at least give a tiny bit of boost.

I don't know if it's a misunderstanding, a UI problem, a lack of information, or simply a bug. The only thing that differs is that the rune you choose (depending on the rune) shows the stats in green.

That's also the same case when leveling up some stats, the statistics are shown in green but do not upgrade. You see a "360 > 360" in the right box. Which is again, extremely strange.

I can't speak for the runes, but for normal leveling up is it a soft/hard cap causing the stat increase to be nothing?

That effect starts from the beginning in your early play ( intro and first area ), so way before you can hit any soft or hard cap.

It really feels like a bug.

I honestly have not been paying much attention to my stat increases (besides weapons), as I'm just dumping points into the stats I want for certain weapons lol.

I hope its not a bug and more of some weird leveling system, but I guess time will tell if they address the issue.

How are you guys even getting runes to slot? No matter what weapon I choose or what rune I select it says they don’t correspond ?

You get them in weapons after upgrading them a few times.

Each weapon has a specific rune "slot" You'll have to check your available runes (which begin dropping after you unlock runesmithing from Gerlinde after giving her the first rune tablet) and see if you have the right runes. You can also check what kind of slot you have by checking the weapon in the "socket runes" menu.

So still bugged, technically.

You just need to progress more. I got my first rune unlocked around Lower Carthus, the second around Sunless Skein. You can see the slots on the weapon icon in inventory, like an empty checkbox. You have runes that are shaped for different slots. The first slot is somewhat badge shaped, second is triangle, and I guess third is like a 10 point star since the blacksmith had them for sale. It wasn't clear at first but you fill the slots individually by swapping them in the bottom left of the slot menu at the blacksmith.

socketed strength scaling rune but seems like no effect at least in the UI

I dunno. I slotted the 'Nartun' rune in my second rune slot of my sword. Says it restores mana on killing an enemy. Multiple tests and I get ZERO mana restored. Bizarre. I did find out that on your lamp, the eye that gives an extra soul flay MUST be the first socketed in the lamp or it doesn't give you the extra soul flay. So now I wonder if the second slots on lamps and weapons are bugged/useless?

Put a griveous strikes do more damage in my sword. Sword is definitely doing more damage on grievous strikes. Runes seem to be hit or miss, but the ones that enhance scaling. If they say "Slightly." it quite literally means slightly lol. Like 0.5.
