Lords of the Fallen
Another great project ruined by Unreal Engine 5.
I can't help myself but wonder how well this could have turned out if it wasn't for the terrible Unreal Engine 5. Almost all my issues with the game are traced back to UE5.

- The game has a noisy, washed out look that I've noticed in almost all recent Unreal Engine 5 releases. The art style is great but presentation is lacking unfortunately due to the UE5 grain. Huge turn off for me.

- Unbearable compilation stutter. I don't know if this is the studios fault but I don't think I've played a recent UE5 tittle without stuttering and compilation stutter. It's really unacceptable and ruins the experience.

- Bad performance. At this point the game cannot run at a stable frame-rate without the use of Up-scaling. Up-scaling is a tool, it shouldn't be considered a requirement. As an RTX 3070 owner, I don't think it is ridiculous to expect to run this particular game at Native 2K on Medium-High settings. Yet again, another issue I've noticed in all the latest UE5 releases.

I find myself in a really strange position because despite the fact that I REALLY enjoy the game as a game, I simply can't ignore the technical aspect. I will leave a Negative review because I just cannot recommend this. The foundation upon which your game is built is important and UE5 feels like mud, dragging this game down.

TBH UE has always been utter ♥♥♥♥. UE 3 and 4 were plagued by plastic-like, shimmering textures and horrible shader compilation stutter regardless of settings. UE5 seems to be the same, topped with abysmal performance across the board. The only advantage of UE used to be its relative ease of use for development and decent scalability.
try use plasma tv instead or crt . all games would look much better when it comes contrast and colors

4080 getting well over 120fps @ 1440p
Can Confirm that. On max settings no DLSS and no crashes.

I agree, the blurry, washed out look of recent modern games developed in the Unreal Engine is becoming more and more apparent.
I don't know anything about UE5 but UE4 was bad.
UE3 was way better than UE4.

If you can instantly tell which engine a game is running than it's a bad engine.

Runs fine for me. Lower your settings, don't just blindly put everything on Ultra.

Give it time, they already released a patch and it seems to bring more stability, also follow their instructions for the settings and launcher, I don't have a 40xx card, only a 3070ti and running the game at 1440p and currently getting 75+ FPS

I have the same card, what settings do you use, all high?

Typically you can expect your new video card to hold up pretty well for at least 3 years.

But in this case, UE4 to UE5 is a huge shift in technology. And it is in fact ridiculous to expect that your 3 year old card can hang with this new technology. Get used to it, because this is what you can expect from any UE5 game.

If that's a problem for you, it's time to upgrade.
Your card is simply not good enough for running UE5 Games, as said above.
Either use DLSS or drop resolution to 1080p.

2K/4K wasn't viable in games 7 years ago and still isn't.

Also THIS.
wow i thought i was the only one, every unreal game i see looks so bloody washed out and grainy even the lighting, the worst ever is from the mgs delta game where it's hard to even look at it. it's like all unreal engineers are paid to do is add new tech and ignore any sort of improvement and fixes.
I dont know about that, dead island 2 and tekken 8, despite being on unreal engine runs very well and they look far from washed out, being some of the most vivid games out there. Very stable too. Hell dead island 2, a game that suffered dev hell was the most stable game released in a long while and optimised, even a 1070 could run it

most unreal engine games runs fine on ancient hardware and limited resources . pretty sure even 1050 , even older series is enough as long you have ssd and enough ram . just lower stuff thats needed to be loaded to vram , make game look like crap in procces
I came here to say that none of this is specifically unreal engine 5's fault, it's the developer for not addressing these things. All of your complaints are easily rectified by putting effort into your project and not putting the burden on your player base. If you don't understand what I mean, I can explain.
