Gave up and just block tanked everything and recovered the wither damage on hits, only rolled pass the arm swipe because it's the only move with a consistent i-frame hitbox.
I'm also wondering who the brilliant genius was that decided to place this guy where he is. He literally shows up immediately after another boss (sub-boss?) and save spot. Why would you do this, it's not fun at all.
It does the weird 180 degree snap thing, like the trolls did in DS2; his slam attacks will hit you even when you sprint directly behind it.
This is definitely NOT how you do "big, ugly monstrosity".
Maybe they were trying to mimic Watchdog of the Old Lords, but missed what made that one work.
