crash after cinematic
I have a friend that yesterday was able to start the game 2 times and play for a while, but today always crashes after cinematic

i've tried to help him with workarounds, adding -nopsos to launch options and so on and nothing helps...

the crash is specifically described as known issue form the developer and the fix doesn't work, what we suppose to do now, sit and wait for another patch?

How come one day he was able to play but next day he can't get past the cinematic...

I did manage to get through the first loading screen again. I'm trying to get through the 2nd one. I could play with the first character but I just made that one without thinking I can actually play but I'm stuck with the new character again.

The way I fixed it was clear DirectX shader cache. After that clear Nvidia shader cache.. needs restart of PC to delete the files. And restart again after the cache is cleared. There is an official guide from the Hogwarts legacy devs.

And than finally disable steam overlay. Idk if that one is necessary but I have never gotten into the game with it on.

Can you post the link to this workaround with the exact steps needed?

One more thing you can try is to rollback Nvidia drivers to the September drivers. Those would at least get past the loading screen crash for me.

I found another temporary solution but it's not great.
Running the game in compatibility windows 7 mode and administrator and the command the devs posted will skip the loading screen. However win 7 mode will crash on FSR so you will get very bad performance but u can at least play

So we tried that (again with some ytube videos how to do that) and my friend was able to reach the Main Menu again. So I told him to create a new character, but, after reaching the second loading screen after he crashed again. Tried with -nopsos and without it still crashing. The moment he crash he starts crashing in the initial loading screen again.

He tried also that compatibility windows 7 thingies, no change...

We tried 10 other things, whole day nothing helped.

I see there is a new patch some minutes ago, what is in it anyone knows?

It fixed it on steam deck. Steam deck runs butter smooth now. My PC is stuck on loading screen again. I think for PC it's just "Luck" to get out of loading screen. I wish i never turned of my PC. Ones I was in everything was perfect. But some bug crashes the loading screen still.
But if you have a steam deck you can at least play on that for now. I get 50-60 on deck now at least in the tutorial area and no real dips or lags. Steam Deck is on all low but textures.
I guess we need to wait for another patch.

Idk if it's coincidence. I personally have an i5 and someone else here too? My steam deck doesn't? Maybe the game is bugged on i5?
