instead of rushing it out of beta straight to release to try and get ahead of the elden ring DLC

I think it would have sold a million copies.

LotF 2023 sold over 1.3M copies actually.

no, enemy diversity, npc quality and environmental quality is way lower making the game look and feel far inferior to elden ring

Nobody said anything about it being better than elden ring...
I played and completed all challenges in Elden Ring then sought to try LotF. I couldn't do it, controls and combat movement were just not up to the Dark Souls standard.

The controls/movement/jank is not any worse than dark souls, and the combat is actually better with more depth when you learn to use all the tools together.

Dark Souls combat might as well be 2 buttons, most people just roll/light attack their way through the game. Lotf has parries, kicks, 2 handing mid combo, ranged weapons, superior spell casting, soulflays, umbral finishers, stance breaks/grievous strikes etc.

They are still higher quality games overall, just not for those reasons.

Combat in LOTF 2.0 is as good or better than Elden Ring.
Better late than never. That large discount on 2.0 probably peaked a lot of interest for people. It did for me. I wish I grabbed 2014 version earlier knowing the story continuity. Overall I like the game. It's pretty fun. I don't find combat janky but the stored attacked animations are a tiny irritating, but that's not the game's fault that's mine. Movement I feel is fine and the environments are cool for what they are. It's not open world but there's enough variety, and enough enemy variety for those given areas.

My biggest let down are the endings, well I only completed radiance at this point, but a two minute cut scene isn't doing it for me.
Lords of the fail completely loses to Dark Souls 1 both in quantity and quality of enemies/bosses.

I dont agree, quality of bosses of DS1 is very dated, compared to DS3 and other games (including LotF 2023) DS1 bosses are more like mini-bosses.
The good bosses of DS1 are O&S, Artorias, Manus and a dragon at DLC, the other bosses are ok as bosses or more like mini bosses or gimmick mini bosses.
It was good for its time but that is your nostalgia talking.
stop bragging. the lamp is utter trash, combat is ok on paper but the impact of swinging your weapon is non-existent, overall bringing down the rating. not even close to fromsoft games.

It still has the lamp mechanic

You can literally flatten enemies or toss them in the air with some weapon attacks. Long swords and polearms have 360 double hit attacks that knock enemies back. Sounds like a skill issue.

Care to explain how I flatten enemies left and right?

Yes, how could I forget, you can also literally rip an enemies soul out of their body and tear it apart, and when you come across some chonky boi blocking your path on a bridge, you can use your lamp to effortlessly fling him into the abyss. Thank you for reminding me of this great feature that adds another layer of depth to combat and exploration.
