why they don'y die ?

suddenly after defeating The Hollow Crow
I notice when I hit enemies even when their bar becomes full grey they don't die
and the hit number does not appear

now the only ways to kill them is by:
1- the last hit by a combo .. this the only one that counts and kill them and the hit num appear .. so I must preform a full combo on every single one
2- by spell


is this a bug?
why suddenly it appears in the middle of the game?
can anyone help please
its hard to progress now
