Can't hear my footsteps

Today when i booted up the game and started running i couldnt hear any sound when walking. It feels like im running on air. Anyone know how to fix the sounds?

I did some googling earlier and saw this has happened before but I didn't see a fix, looks like it just got corrected in the next patch. In that case it was all ambient sounds though, not just footsteps.
