What are severed hands for?

So I tried some invasions at beginning just to see what it looks like and got some severed hands. Invasions are super fun btw.

What are they for?

You can buy stuff with them... or give yourself "the stranger" without having to sit on your hand for 20 minutes.

i assume it's something I will run into later on? I just finished fighting the archer girl with hounds

Yeah you should run into a shrine a little later where you can buy armor, shortly after the swamp area. It's kind of hidden but if you explore areas well and check umbral you'll find it. The path to it is on a big bridge with a boss fight.

punishment for the NNN sinners

no but for real, they are PVP currency. you need to find the shrine of adyr and there you can buy pvp gear, cool armor and tints and stuff with it

So there are 3 "covenants" One for PvP (Hands), Coop (Coins) and PvE (eyeballs). All of these three currencies can be used to buy Tincts and faction specific armors.

Also any thing purchased from there is account bound so all character will have it in inventory. Do no place the armor in the chest or it will duplicate and you cant drop or sell the armor.
