And those are basics, I can't believe how limited the invited player is in the "coop" mode.
You can revive them from a vestige or seed vestige.
I'm pretty sure you can do all of that with shared progression with password coop.
If you're doing random coop where you're just invited into random parts of someone else's game, then it's expected to be somewhat limited. You're really just there to help them progress, your upgrades would come from your own playthrough.
A serious issue with coop right now is that guests can open chests with keys in them, and if they do the host doesn't get the key and they're soft locked. There's a skip for the emperyean door I learned last night, though. I got it to work twice just to test it. Here's the video I found showing how to do it.
