Invasions can only occur in certain areas. Maybe you're standing and waiting in the wrong places.
In new game I was invaded a couple of times.
Invasions are an annoyance honestly, why would anyone want to waste time with it. If im not particularly merciful, then I make sure by any means to win, which isnt particularly hard, if you have the means heh.
edit : repeatedly as in, clear one invader, and i think I had another in less than 4-5min, which means people who try to play regularly with online on and trying to simply go through the game might feel they are invaded too rapidly one after the other
The game is pretty much only really balanced for solo play. Co-op is pretty much broken, not in a sense that it's unplayable, but it makes the game 100x easier than it should be. I've been playing it with my friend exclusively and we've gotten past my old save in less than 10 hours total whereas it took me close to 30 solo.
- Invasions are completely random. You can't pick and chose an area, level range, or opponents. The game does all of this, within what it deems 'fair ping'
- Host will always have the advantage because unlike the dark souls series, registry is host-side and not client-side Meaning invaders have to deal with delayed hits, null regs, and if you switch between lamp/ranged too quickly the game won't allow you to use it.
- If you don't like pvp don't engauge with it. Use mirrors. Don't want to? Exit to main and load back in. Around 5 seconds on modern NVMEs. Don't want to spend the 5 seconds? Rest at a rest stop. Instantly kicks the invader out.
- Getting killed is inconsequential if you're playing right. Seedling spots aren't more than 2 minutes away from each other, dying to an invader means that it's a 30 second run back.
- invaders are scaled to host, but it seems status effects aren't. You getting instant killed is probably a mix of getting smited/ignited/bled/ect and your low health. If you join a couple of co op sessions you should have enough vigor to get around lv50 and most fights should be fair unless you're running rags for some reason.
This isn't an issue of "git gud" it's an issue of newbies not knowing what is going on. You have infinite options to avoid pvp with 0 consequences.
Well, at least someone knows what they're talking about.
Perhaps I should have separated those two sentences. I was saying that his experience of not being invaded isn't the same as the experiences of those who are complaining.
Wanting something to not exist for others is painting their desires not their experiences.
---
I didn't get the impression that the majority of them want PvP to not exist at all, for anyone. I've done 3 playthroughs of this game with PvP on, but I get where they're coming from.
They just want to be able to easily and indefinitely opt out of PvP, while still being able to do coop PvE. They're not saying that it's bad in general, they're saying that it's bad for them and their enjoyment of the game (the exploration, boss fights, and lore).
I think Souls games were always primarily PvE games with PvP attached, anyway. Sea of Thieves is the reverse, intended to be a PvP game with PvE elements. Even they eventually made PvE only servers and the PvP servers remained healthy.
Mandatory PvP negatively affects these PvE players. I don't see how removing these PvE players from the invasion pool will negatively affect PvP players in this game.
Where's the harm in adding a PvP toggle instead of just the Online toggle? They can make it so that checking a box will cause the Mirror of Protection effect to always remain active. Change it from an item to an option.
what areas were you in when you were invaded? I haven't been invaded in a while and Im kind of sad
