I wanted to try a fire paladin build, but not sure if going with the squishy cultist is the strat, and holding out until you get better gear or going for a different class and leveling inferno as you get items?

Any advice ?

Most npc's sell full gear sets with decent stats that can get you through the entire game. To be fair apart from trying to meet the ligh/medium/heave req's, armor isnt TERRIBLY important through your first run- only if you want to min-max a specific resistance.

To top it all off, if you want to be tankier, its just better to put levels into vitality, it increases your health and ANY stat you increase boosts defense and resistances.

So just buy a set from an npc, and use that. You'll slowly get more gear as you go through the game. Equip for fashion or occasionally for resistances. At the end of the day though, try to stay light. just remember that dodging 1 out of 2 attacks with crappy light armor will probably mitigate more damage than stacking defense and tanking the 2 hits.

BUT WAIT THERES MORE; eventually just can just by balms. They increase specific resistances by around 100-150, which is like 2 or 3 pieces of armor anyways. So again, just wear what you want, unless you're planning on doing >NG+2

Thank you so much, this was very helpful! I Ended up going cultist, as you say it's not that squishy if you invest in vitality early.
