Is the Co-op playable now with the new update?

Problems I had with a friend were the ladder and sprinting issues. Also I wouldn't get the upgrade items for the health thingy. Are these fixed now? Also I've read that there are things that I can't unlock with friends pass? Is this true? Only my friend owns the game. Should I but it also?

No, but the ladder and sprint thing can be avoided by starting your own session first instead of joining directly from the invite, and health thing can be "bypassed" by letting the host drop every other one so you are on the same amount. It's still a mess tho.
